Oproep voor Tentoonstelling Watercolor met 100 Rozen

Binnenkort bestaat de Quiltshop 100 rozen 5 jaar. Dit jubileum valt ongeveer samen met het gereedkomen van onze nieuwe cursusruimte.

Wij hebben wij het idee opgevat om een tentoonstelling van watercolor quilts te organiseren.

Wilt u misschien ook mee doen? Het maakt niet uit of uw eindresultaat alleen de watercolor is,een grote quilt is geworden, een kussen of iets heel anders.

De tentoonstelling is gepland vanaf onze vijfde verjaardag op 8 mei tot met 15 juni en dat is Quilt in Public Day. Henk doet de coordinatie van de tentoonstelling. Wilt u ook meedoen met de tentoonstelling, dan ontvangt Henk graag een e-mail van u. Zijn e-mailadres is h.e.a.muller@concepts.nl.

Eerstvolgende workshop is op zaterdag 11 mei in de nieuwe cursusruimte.

The Dear Kaffe Quilt update ... 5 march

All borders and corners have been attached to the quilt. Sylvia hand quilted almost all blocks and today she quilted the first triangle. There are some issues to be solved before the e-book will be available. And yes, the first 15 boxes with fabric to make a quilt like this, have been sold.

Alle randen en ook de rand voor de schulpen zijn toegevoegd aan de Dear Kaffe quilt. Sylvia heeft bijna alle blokjes met de hand gequilt en is vandaag gestart met het quilten van de eerste triangels/driehoeken. De quilt is te zien in de winkel en wordt dagelijks opgepakt om te showen. Hij wordt elke dag mooier, zo lijkt het. Er zijn ook al 2 workshops van een halve dag geweest en de derde is ingepland op 20 april. En ja, de eerste 15 dozen met stoffen hebbben hun weg gevonden naar liefhebbers van de Dear Kaffe. Kortom, het gaat helemaal goed komen met de Dear Kaffe.

Het maken van Tumbling blocks

Vandaag staat in het teken van het maken van Tumbling Blocks. In het filmpje zie je hoe dat hier vandaag gebeurt. Vanmiddag ga ik weer braaf verder met het quilten van de Dear Kaffe. Fijne dag en tot ziens.

The making of Tumbling blocks
2,5 inch Jelly roll stroken
fabric from Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs:
6 Shot Cottons and PJ41 Japanese Chrysanthemum

 

Step 1 Chose your fabrics, one with big flowers and 6 shot cottons
Step 2 Stitch a light strip to a dark strip over the full length
Step 3 From the stitched strips cut diamonds with an angle of 60 degrees.
Step 4 From the big flower fabric cut diamonds with an angle of 60 degrees.
Step 5 Distrubute the big flower diamonds sorted by color.
Step 6 Start the stitching of the tumbling blocks

 

This afternoon is planned for quilting the Dear Kaffe. Have a nice day and see you ..

The Dear Kaffe top is sandwiched at 12 January 2013

At Saturday morning right before the Workshop Dear Kaffe we sandwiched the Dear Kaffe Top. The quilting process is started yesterday. And yes I know, you very much like to see the top. So here it is. The borders will be put on later.

Zaterdagochtend, vlak voor de Workshop Dear Kaffe, hebben we de Dear Kaffe gesanwiched. Het quilten is gisteren begonnen. Hier is de eerste foto van de top. De randen worden er later aangezet.

Het is een prachtige top geworden, waar 85 quilters aan hebben gewerkt. Het wordt flink door werken met het quilten om de quilt af te krijgen voor de eerste tentoonstelling. Reacties zijn meer dan welkom op deze blog.

Simply Vintage

Rustige dag op zaterdag, dus werd er lekker geknutseld. Met twee lampjes als resultaat.

 

Dit heb je er voor nodig: Een paar mooie knopen, kantje, 3 stofjes, 4 kleuren vilt, wat wollen draadjes, een beetje lint en een oud lampekanpje. En verder vliesofix, crea-pop van hobby-fun, dubbelzijdig plakband en een paar willige handen.

Dear Kaffe in Amsterdam at Thanks Giving

Last week between courses, the sewing machine and computer had a fight. Is this is what women can? After an hour of mailing, it entered my brain what I was combining; Composing the top of Dear Kaffe and answering e-mails with Brandon.

All Kaffe Fassett Group designed fabric from the shop went with us to Amsterdam to the ABC Treehouse, shop for a day between Spui and Kalverstraat. In the afternoon we had a watercolor workshop using only Kaffe Fabrics with stunning results.

Finally Kaffe and Brandon arrived and the shop was overloaded with fans.

At the end of the evening there was time to show the Dear Kaffe quilt to Kaffe and have a little chat.

Kaffe admired how the pieces are cut and loves
the idea of working with little pieces of fabric. He pointed out some special fussy cut blocks. Also the brightness of the background to make the quilt look  crisp has his approval. The Dear Kafffe quilt will in Nantes, april 2013 and yes Kaffe will be there too.

Then Brandon took the Dear Kaffe quilt and he made a little joke with it. As you can see the top is not completely finished. Some blocks are still missing. We hope to finish the top soon. 

We specially thank Lynn Kaplanian from The American Book Center for having us in The ABC Treehouse. Today, Sunday 25 November, Lynn is interviewed on RTL7 just before noon. The RTL7 film team took the shots while Quiltshop 100 rozen had the shop in The ABC Treehouse.

Pine Trees pattern from Kim McLean in QUILT & ZO

Did you see the beautiful quilt pattern Pine Trees from Kim McLean in QUILT & ZO?

So very Kim McLean and jet not so many applique. We love to make at least a part of this beautiful quilt. We show you our first block now. The pine tree is hanged with 'Presents' made of colored pieces of wool.

De dennenbomen van Kim McLean in Quilt en Zo zijn weergaloos. De kleuren zijn zo Kim en toch heel weinig applicaties.

Dit blok moest even gemaakt worden en krijgt een plaatsje onder de theepot. Voor het maken van een boom is een strook van 5x110cm genoeg, wel zonder boomstam en achtergrondstof.

Workshop 22 november in Amsterdam

Dear oh dear. After making a water color top what would you do with it? Well, I made this weekend a Poppin's bag from it.
Met een top gemaakt met de watercolor techniek kan je ook een Poppin's tas maken. De tas heeft zo'n mooie klik beugel zoals in een dokters tas en hierdoor heb je zoveel ruimte in de tas, dat er makkelijk twee kussens in passen. De bovenkant van de tas is gemaakt van Brandon Mably's Babble Red.

Op donderdagmiddag 22 november geven we de workshop Watercolor bij The ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam. Kaffe Fassett geeft 's avond een lezing. At Thursday afternoon 22 november we give a workshop at The ABC Treehouse in Amsterdam. Kaffe Fassett does a presentation.

Already so many blocks posted, it is a miracle ..

Speciaal bericht voor alle harde werkers aan de blokjes voor de Dear Kaffe quilt.
Er zijn inmiddels heel veel blokjes binnen en ze zijn stuk voor stuk juweeltjes geworden. Hieronder wat voorbeelden van de ingeleverde blokjes.

Daar wordt je helemaal blij van. Sterker nog een aantal dames heeft gevraagd of we een stofpakket  voor de Dear Kaffe Quilt kunnen leveren. Daar hadden we nog niet over nagedacht. Humm..

Vanaf dat moment hebben we het samenstellen van de zakjes met stof een beetje aangepast. Eerst kijken of een stof nog na te leveren is en vervolgens de stof apart leggen voor de te maken pakketten. Na het maken van de eerste 8 pakketten was de witte stof alweer op en hebben we die snel weer bijbesteld. De stofpakketten zijn vanaf nu leverbaar en te bestellen via www.quiltwebshop.nl.

Kaffe Fassett in Amsterdam at 22 november

Kaffe Fassett will be visiting Amsterdam, the American Book Center, to present his autobiography Dreaming in Color, on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd.

Kaffe (pronounced ‘kayf’) Fassett is a world-renowned and much-loved American textile designer and artist who started his long career in an unlikely place: on a train. On a visit to the wilds of Scotland, he was captivated by the palette of the landscape, and bought armfuls of Shetland wool in the colors he saw around him. On his way home, he asked a lady in his train carriage to teach him to knit, and not so very long later, his first knitwear designs had been commissioned by Vogue.

22 november. We will bring most of our Kaffe Fassett, Philip Jacobs and Brandon Mably fabric to Amsterdam. We also present our newest kit Dear Kaffe to make a baby Jane quilt.

Baby Jane blocks continued ..

So, lots of you love to see at least a photo of the blocks we got allready. This is happening now. You all did a great job, asking for being a part of this Kaffe Fassett Baby Jane project.

The second photo shows how the blocks arrive in the shop. It is a delight to open the softy, filled with a bit of fabric, envelops.

As you can see, we need some yellow and orange blocks to arrive, to give the right color impression.
Row B is almost completed.
